During this presentation, Giulio Pedota of Schuler Shook will discuss his experience designing the interior and exterior lighting for The Christ Hospital Joint and Spine Center, located in Cincinnati. Completed in late 2015, and designed by Chicago’s SOM, the LEED certified Joint and Spine center is a graceful and thoughtfully composed project.
The participants attending this presentation will learn about SOM’s unique approach to introducing daylight into the spaces, and how artificial lighting and control strategies contributed to the occupant’s well being. In addition, attendants will learn about the challenges to provide a unique approach to the patient room’s lighting, which entailed moving away from traditional approaches, and emphasizing design and aesthetics in a room that is traditionally functional.
Giulio will also share how unique architectural features of the building that challenged the designers to meet LEED’s Light Pollution credit, along with budgetary constraints that defined the lighting technologies employed in the project.
This event is worth 1 CEU credit.
