Event Details

Lighting is rapidly becoming part of a convergence to Power over Ethernet (PoE) that has been happening for some time in other building systems including phone, security, fire and safety.  We are moving beyond lighting control systems to smart, connected lighting – a sensor network and operating system that enable not only better light, but also applications far beyond light, making organizations more effective and profitable.

Learn about connected lighting using the PoE platform, including possibilities for higher level integration to building management systems and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the Internet of Things (IoT) and its practical importance.
  • Evaluate Power over Ethernet (PoE) and its increasing role in the spaces we create.
  • Describe the difference between energy efficient buildings versus truly smart buildings that go well beyond energy savings.
  • Identify real-world examples in use today, as well as likely future trends.

This event is worth 1 AIA credit.
